Kansas City McDonald's Host 11th Red Wednesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Football season is approaching, which means the Kansas City Chiefs have a lot in store for Red Kingdom.

Specifically, the team will host its ‘Red Wednesday’ celebration for the second year in a row in honor of the first game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5.

On Red Wednesday, fans across the metro can buy a limited-edition flag to commemorate the annual tradition, which was originally ‘Red Friday,’ and donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City (RMHC-KC).

According to the Chiefs, this year’s flag will have a special back-to-back championship design for the team’s Super Bowl LVII and LVIII wins.

Flags will be available for a minimum donation of $5 at more than 135 Kansas City-area McDonald’s restaurants, including those in St. Joseph.

Since the tradition started 11 years ago (originally on ‘Red Friday’), the team has raised over $5.5 million for RMHC-KC, and $6 million for local charities.
